Kinds of Boom Lifts or Construction Lifts
A boom lift is a piece of equipment that allows workers to carry out tasks without having to construct a scaffolding. They are used to do maintenance work, to work on elevated structures and are common equipment found in factory and warehouse settings as well.
Usually, construction lifts provide powered and wheeled bases that are capable of driving to the work place and have a platform on them which is responsible for elevating workers. There are many different kinds of lifts and each one is suited to various jobs and settings.
Bucket Trucks
Bucket trucks, which are often known as "cherry-pickers", carry a long boom which has a bucket connected at the end. This bucket area is where an employee can stand. Normally, bucket trucks are utilized by landscapers and by utility workers. Landscapers normally use these kinds of machines to trim trees.
Bucket trucks are equipped with a boom assembly that is mounted on a regular truck, and this means these lifts could travel on roads at normal traffic speeds. This mobility really increases the area they could effectively service. This is particularly important for power companies. For example, a lot of these businesses use cherry pickers to raise employees up so they could reach and work on transmission lines. The buckets should be regularly checked and properly insulated as they are working close to possible shock hazards.
Articulated booms lifts or knuckle lifts include a work platform mounted to an arm which could bend and reach obstacles. The base of the lift contains a turntable and is capable of turning the lift in a full circle. The base of the lift is mounted on wheels as well for extra mobility.
Normally, the articulated boom lift is used for landscaping projects but is also useful for maintenance work on projects which are already finished. Projects that do not require easy access directly beneath the jobsite. These lifts could be utilized to repair piping or exterior electrical work, and hard to clean areas. Normally knuckle lifts are driven by the worker in the platform with the extended boom.
