Lift trucks are essential pieces of equipment utilized widely in business, particularly within distribution centers, warehouses, industrial and storage handling facilities. A lift truck is constructed of hundreds of components, including the carriage, the cab, the power source, the wheels and the engine. Forklifts generally have different types of attachments also. The following are some of the most essential lift truck parts.
Forklift Engine - the lift truck is designed with a power source at the back of the equipment. Different types of lift trucks have various types of engine that need varying power sources. For instance, a lift truck with an internal combustion engine could have as its power source any of the following: diesel, gasoline, LP gas or CNG gas. Electric motor forklifts receive their power from fuel cells or a battery.
Frame of The Truck - The truck frame is the base of the lift truck and the most vital of all the forklift components. This forms the machine's core. All other components of a forklift are attached to the base, including the counterweight, overhead guard, mast, wheels and axles. Fuel and hydraulic fluid tanks may also be part of the frame assembly.
Counterweight Forklift Parts - While carrying heavy loads, the counterweight enables the machinery to be balanced. This specific part is cast iron and comes attached to the back of the forklift. The counterbalance balances the frame of the truck to prevent it from tipping over when a load is being lifted or carried on the front. The heavy lead-acid battery in an electric lift truck gives balance and can work as part of the counterweight.
The Cab Area - The cab is also known as the operator compartment. Forklifts would sometimes have closed cabs while others will be open to the air. There are many parts situated in the cab for operating the forks. The cab has such essential components like the pedals, seats, levers, switches, steering wheel and operator controls. The dashboard contains operator readouts.
