Telescoping Boom Lifts
Telescopic booms are big industrial equipment designed with a straight boom arm that is extendable. The boom is usually situated on a rotating turntable. The telescoping boom lifts are typically used for jobs that require tasks to be carried out at heights that exceed other types of lifts. For example, workers are able to carry out exterior renovations or repairs on medium sized buildings but utilizing these lifts instead of having the extra work of setting up an outside elevator or a pulley system.
The bucket of the boom lift generally only holds a single employee. These buckets are more suited to particular jobs like electrical repair, as opposed to general maintenance or window washing. These lifts are available with both outdoor and indoor tires and are available in gas or electric configurations.
Scissor Lifts
Beneath the scissor lifts work platform are the cross braces in which the machine gets its name. When the braces move together it pushes the platform straight up. As these units should be positioned directly below the work site, these units are way more limited in their use compared to boom lifts.
The scissor lift typically has a bigger platform which allows the operator to control the lift to access a bigger work area when the lift platform is raised off the ground. With scissor lifts, all-terrain capability is less of an issue with these models, since they must sit on flat ground in order to be utilized. Scissor lifts are great for being utilized for cladding or window installation, because they provide the personnel with the desired mobility; they are also a good alternative for window cleaning applications or exterior repairs.
Boom Trucks vs. Cranes
The cherry picker or boom truck refers to the utility vehicle often utilized to lift personnel for different tasks performed at heights. Usually, these trucks have a cab. It is here where the operator sits and controls the machinery. There is a bucket for where the employee could stand in addition to an actuator arm for raising the boom and a winch for lifting.
Boom trucks take workers to heights which would usually be inaccessible. The function of cranes is to raise heavy supplies or equipment from one place to another. There are different types of cranes that could carry out a variety of purposes. Both of these different kinds of machinery excel at different jobs and are great for particular applications and completing particular jobs.
