Solid Lift Truck Tire Safety
Roughly 200 deaths each and every year are caused by mishaps which involve lift trucks, or forklifts. Correct maintenance and inspection of forklift tires can help to reduce the risk of accidents.

Pre-Work Inspection
Prior to the beginning of each shift, the tires on the lift truck should be inspected for signs of wear and damage. The air pressure inside the tires needs to be inspected to ensure the pressure is not too low. Low tire pressure can make the machine prone to tip-overs while lifting loads.

Types of Tires
The selection of tire type must be based on the type of surface on which the lift truck will be operating. For indoor applications, lift trucks with solid rubber tires are recommended. For smoother surfaces, tires are usually smaller. Bigger pneumatic tires are great for lift trucks for outdoor applications. Pneumatic tires can grip rough surfaces well as they are air-filled and have a rubber tread.

Other Considerations
Based on Occupational Health and Safety Administration guidelines, all lift trucks require some continual daily and some periodic inspection which is carried out every shift. The tires must be inspected once more for any sign of damage, like for example cuts or wear.

Lift truck Safety
Forklift safety is important for any employee or employer utilizing a forklift as forklift accidents could be serious causing personal injuries and even death. Even minor mishaps can cost you and your company money if the goods or the forklift are damaged in a mishap. Be sure you really know a lot about issues involved in lift truck safety.
