Reach Truck
A reach truck is utilized to pile up supplies, pallets of goods, and to keep storage areas orderly. The reach truck comes in quite a few types: the double-deep reach, straddle reach and the stand-up reach.
The stand-up is the most basic. The truck forks slide under the pallet and move it to the right storage location. The forks slide the pallet into place. This particular kind of reach truck is suitable when shelving units are one pallet deep.
Ideal for workplaces where the shelving units are deep enough to have two pallets of goods, the double-deep reach truck, that is similar to the stand-up, is commonly utilized. This model has telescopic forks designed to position the pallet at the rear of the shelving unit. This eliminates the need to push the pallet back when another pallet should go into the same shelving section.
Straddle reaches have the added advantage of being able to not only slide underneath the pallet, but also to grasp the sides. These are recommended for workplaces where shelving units are accessible in many directions. This model is best in situations where goods will not be damaged if the sides of the pallet are grabbed.
Normally more than one kind of reach truck is required inside warehouses. Manufacturing facilities and textile firms use various kinds of reach trucks in their supply areas. The reach truck is not hard to utilize and could increase productivity while maximizing available storage space.
