Forklift Motors
Buying a forklift is not to be taken lightly. A forklift is a large capital expenditure, and a complex machine with a motor strong enough to carry out heavy-lifting tasks. The price tag for a forklift ranges from $10,000 to $30,000, comparable to the cost of a small truck. If buying a used forklift, be sure to have it inspected for possible mechanical problems.
There are two different kinds of forklift motor: electric or internal combustion. Forklifts with electric motors are typically more costly compared to those with internal combustion motors. The size of the motor should suit the kind of work for which the forklift would be utilized. A forklift with a big motor costs more compared to a forklift with a motor which is smaller.
Propane or gasoline powered motors are usually stronger compared to electric motor and are capable of lifting heavier weight. The disadvantage is that gas motors tend to develop issues more often than electric motors. Depending upon the price of propane or gas, gas powered forklifts could be more pricey to operate than electric powered forklifts.
