Forklift Basics
Forklifts are very handy machines. The machinery are normally small vehicles with various attachments that enable it to move and lift loads. Factories and warehouses all over the globe would use forklifts. A forklift driver should obtain special training, particularly because these machinery work on rear-wheel drive and this could be difficult to get used to until one is familiar with it. Because the forklift carries its load at the front, the center of gravity is always shifting and this results in the machine being frequently unstable.

Parts
Typically, a forklift driver generally sits in an area referred to as the "cat." This area offers metal protection which stretches overhead like a roof. On the front of the machinery, the mast is located. The mast is the mechanism which lowers and raises the load utilizing hydraulic cylinders.

Forklift Components
When searching for information on forklift components and aftermarket forklift parts, it is a good idea to check out the Internet or your local phone book. Many places provide a full range of forklift accessories, support products and forklift components.

Structural Components
The overhead guard is part of the top portion of the forklift, whereas the foot guard separates the cabin from the load. A counterweight is located at the forklift's back and is installed there in an effort to keep the equipment from falling over.

The forks and Apron
Typically, the load apron is responsible for keeping the cargo in place while the forks, or metal arms, support the load. The forks could be tilted with a purpose to balance the cargo. This is done utilizing the tilting ram and the hydraulic hoist arm that powers the upward movement of the fork.

The Lift Structure
The guard of the load apron extends well above the apron. It works to keep the load stable when the blades carry it along the track of the arms of the upright.

Mechanics
The internal engine on the forklift enables power to be sent to the wheels of the machine. This is what makes the forklift move. The wheels have brakes installed in order to allow the driver the chance to slow down or stop the machine as needed.

Controls
Lifting loads is operated utilizing hoist controls that are located inside the cat. The lift truck is driven by using the steering wheel to turn, like a car or truck.

Load Rating Plate
This plate is located inside the cabin. This load rating plate details the weight restrictions for each specific forklift.
