Different Types of Aerial Lift
A particular type of heavy machinery that allows a person to be lifted into the air is aerial lifts. These equipment are normally used to perform repairs on places that are high up in the air like on roofs, near street-light fixtures and power lines. Like most devices, there are different types of aerial lifts that can be utilized to perform various tasks. For the utmost safety, each type of different kind of machine needs right training and specific certification before operating it.
Scissor Lifts
Genie lifts are another name for scissor lifts. These machinery are the most basic kind of aerial lift available. These lifts are made of a platform that is raised up by means of pneumatic power and are mainly used indoors. Typically, scissor lifts are the safest kind of lift models. When completely compressed, these scissor lifts are capable of being driven like large carts. Generally, when the platform is extended, they could not be driven for safety reasons. Before anyone can utilize these devices, workers must be certified as operators.
Boom Lifts
The boom lift is a much more complex type of aerial lift machinery compared to a scissor lift. The boom lift normally has a much wider base to keep the lift anchored. It uses a jointed arm which has a bucket on the end of it. There is a control box located in the bucket which allows the operator to hoist and lower the bucket. Because the arm of the boom is jointed, it could also move from side to side. The boom lift looks like a tail of a metal scorpion. Traditionally, it is used in construction applications outdoors. The boom lift is considered to be more risky to run compared to scissor lifts, hence, operators must be certified individually for these kinds of lifts.
