Forklift Tire Specs
Since the year 1917, essential tools used in commercial businesses and industry are forklifts. Throughout its history the forklift has changed through different forms, from a basic tractor with a platform attachment to a particular high-tech machine. Forklift tires have also evolved into particular tires, with different types designed to meet specific functions.
Cushion (Solid) Tires
A cushion tire is constructed of rubber or solid polyurethane and is best for indoor applications on smooth surfaces. The tread of a cushion tire is pressed or binded onto the steel ring of the tire. Cushion tires are rated ease of steering and for different load capacities. Cushion tires are usually utilized in warehouse atmosphere.
Pneumatic Tires
Pneumatic forklift tires are filled with air or foam. They are available in two types: radial or bias. Depending on the use, they are offered with different tread depths, weight and sidewall protection. Foam-filled pneumatic forklift tires maintain constant pressures and are less prone to punctures. Pneumatic tires are normally used outdoors on rough, uneven surfaces.
Pneumatic Shaped Solid/Solid Pneumatic
The comfortable ride that pneumatic tires provide along with the puncture resistance which solid tires provide are the combined features of Solid Pneumatic Hybrid Tires. They are a good option to the outdoor pneumatic tire.
Large Rubber and Flotation Tires
Utilized on wheel loader forklifts are large rubber tires which could either be pneumatic, solid or foam. These types of tires are suitable for transporting and loading heavy objects onto trucks or into processing machines. Large flotation pneumatic tires are best for masted rough terrain forklifts commonly used at lumberyards, construction sites and automobile recyclers.
